2015: The Year in Review

Lake Berryessa in Napa

To say 2015 has been eventful is an understatement. The highlight was April 9th when Lawson was born and the joy he’s brought to my life every single day since. (Another highlight was spending a day exploring around Napa with my favorite luvs)

January

February

  • Had a scare with premature contractions and spent a few hours in the hospital getting them under control
  • Attended the Bloguettes 2-day branding workshop
  • The best baby shower
  • Made it to the last trimester (30-week update)!

March

  • Shared my list of pregnancy essentials and maternity basics
  • Waddled my way around Phoenix Flea, one of my favorite local shopping experiences
  • Stayed close to home finishing up last minute baby stuff

April

  • My last pregnant outfit post
  • Welcomed Lawson James Cole and became a little family of 3
  • Spent the rest of the month with visitors and trying to keep the little luv alive while also getting some sleep

May

June

  • Survived Jim’s first work trip post-baby with a little help from my mom and a friend
  • Brought back outfit posts with a couple from my brother and my first in a few months!
  • Celebrated Jim’s first Father’s Day
  • Highlighted one of my favorite local small businesses, Pure Life Jewelry

July

  • Shared Lawson’s birth story
  • Hosted my dad for a quick visit. He needed to check up on Lawson! It was great to spend time with him on our own. I can’t remember the last time it had happened and I hope we make it an annual tradition
  • Family vacation on the East Coast, including Lawson’s first flight (it was much easier than I had imagined it would be)
  • Bought my first maxi skirt…my favorite outfit post of the year!

August

  • Escaped the heat to spend my birthday in Minnesota
  • Took our first family photos, a new birthday tradition
  • Slowly returned to running with a few short jogs while in Minnesota

September

  • Moaned and complained about the crazy heat in Phoenix and willed fall to come soon (it didn’t)
  • Spent Labor Day weekend in North Carolina with Jim’s family…cross another state off Lawson’s list
  • Introduced Lawson to the pool for the first time
  • Visited friends in the mountains of Colorado and had one of my favorite dinners of the year

October

  • Started our month of meatless meals. It was actually easier than expected. We ended up extending it to Thanksgiving
  • Traveled back to Minnesota for my cousin’s wedding
  • Brought back my wardrobe essentials series highlighting 3 ways to wear a plaid shirt
  • Took a mini-family trip to Prescott, including a pumpkin patch visit
  • Celebrated Lawson’s half birthday

November

  • Survived the longest flight ever with Lawson on our way back from a weekend visiting Jim’s family
  • Spent Thanksgiving in Napa…dinner with family, exploring new places. Napa is definitely my happy place
  • Welcomed my mom while Jim was out of town for work

December

  • Signed up for the Phoenix Half Marathon and started training with my longest runs in almost 2 years
  • We’ve got a crawler in the house. So proud of our little guy.
  • Felt festive the entire month getting ready for Lawson’s first Christmas. It was everything I had hoped it would be.
  • Won our fantasy football league! Makes all those hours spent watching games worth it :)

It’s been a great year. I’m sad to see it go, but I’m excited for the year ahead. I have a feeling it’s going to be a good one!
