When Lawson was born, I tried to limit dairy for the first month since I had read a lot of babies are sensitive to dairy. Come to find out, Lawson can eat pretty much anything.
With Sybil, I started out the same by limiting dairy. I cut out milk, butter, yogurt and cheese. We quickly discovered Sybil had a more sensitive stomach. She struggled with painful reflux and gas and still does at seven months old. I never imagined I’d be limiting dairy for so long. (I say limiting rather than eliminating since dairy is in so many items. I try my best not to cook with dairy but realize there’s likely some in items I eat when out.)
I’ve found a few go to dairy free meals that have become mainstays in our weekly rotation. Here are my favorites:
Crockpot Italian Turkey Meatballs (served with spaghetti squash)
Slow Cooker Chicken (served with roasted carrots, broccoli and potatoes)
What’s your favorite dairy-free recipe? I’m always looking for something new!
This week was spent getting back into our groove after a couple of weeks away. Pediatrician appointment, swim and music class, lots of home cooked dinners, a visit to the zoo and late afternoons playing in the yard. It’s been a full week! We’re trying to enjoy our beautiful weather as much as possible before it hits 100 degrees.
Holy moly, how is it April 1st tomorrow? That means my baby turns 2 next weekend. His second birthday could be more emotional for me than his first. I have the distinct feeling he’s growing up too fast. We’ve been practicing singing happy birthday and blowing out candles to prepare. :)
I’m kicking off the weekend with a lunch date today and a manicure/pedicure tomorrow morning. I can’t even remember my last nail salon visit. It’s been far too long, especially since it’s already sandal season here.
If I can swing it, I’m stopping at Madewell tomorrow to take advantage of their sale. This shirt, this tank (I already have it in grey) and this striped tank are on my list. I also love this striped dress, but am self conscious about wearing most dresses right now.
Whatever you’re up to, I hope it’s a great weekend! See you back here next week.
I’m writing this sitting in a hotel room, sipping a glass of wine while watching HGTV. The kids are sleeping in an adjoining room. Does life get better?!
We were home for all of two days before flying to California for the weekend. Jim and his dad are golfing at Pebble Beach. As a non-golfer, even I have to admit the courses are pretty spectacular. The views are amazing, especially on a sunny day.
Poor Sybil can’t catch a break. She has her first cold complete with a stuffy nose, watery eye and cough.
I have indulged in far too many treats over the past two weeks. I keep referring to it as spring break and eating whatever I want. My stomach is paying the price. I’m actually looking forward to getting back into our routine at home, healthy eating and all.
Do you use a Simplified Planner? I bought one last year and really liked it. This year I decided I didn’t want to spend that much money on a planner. Fast forward two months and I missed it something fierce. I missed the first couple of months, but I did get it on sale so there’s that. Next year it’s going on my Christmas wish list.
I’ve talked about my obsession with my Swell water bottle more than once (it was one of my top 3 purchases of 2016). Before we left on our recent travels, I picked up another one in the medium size (17 oz), this time in white. It’s the perfect size for traveling!
Jim and I went to the mall one afternoon this week. I snuck into Madewell to try on a few items. While browsing, I saw these pajama shorts. They are really cute and would be great for summer!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Whoa, what a week! Winter storm Stella that was more sleet than snow but oh so cold. A stomach bug for lawson that required multiple loads of laundry and a trip to the ER (he finally felt better on Saturday). Tooth #2 and sitting up independently for Sybil. A quick middle of the day date. Thank goodness we had lots of family to help us take care of the kiddos.
We’re wrapping up our east coast swing this winter weekend before heading back to the sunshine on Monday. It’s been a good trip (minus Lawson’s stomach bug), but it’s always nice to go home.
My girlfriend (thanks Heather!) sent me an email about these pjs. Washable silk?! Added to my wish list.
Do you read Cup of Jo? It’s one of the top 5 blogs that I read regularly. The posts cover a range of topics and are insightful. I found one couple’s IVF journey to be particularly touching. They turned their story into a podcast to provide both the male and female perspective.
These 9 things you should never say to a pregnant friend are pretty spot on.
Whatever you’re up to, I hope your weekend is going well!
