Nordstrom Anniversary Sale – Men & Kids

As promised, here are my favorites from the Nordstrom anniversary sale for men and kids! I had my brother in mind when picking through the men’s stuff. He requested short sleeve shirts so there’s a bunch of those. :) Similar to the women’s sale, it’s a great time to buy a new pair of jeans and invest in a pair of shoes. They usually include a few from Cole Haan and this year was no exception (I ordered these for Jim).

I think the baby gear is the best part of the kids sale. We have the jogging stroller and LOVE it. If only it were on sale in a double! Lawson uses these sippy cups all the time. I really want to get the pink and grey for Sybil. I picked up these Nike sneakers for Lawson yesterday. They are so stinking cute on him! He didn’t want to take them off.

Weekend Roundup

Weekend Roundup

Hello, hello! Since I posted yesterday about the anniversary sale, I wanted to catch up with my normal weekend roundup today. This week has been busy packing and listing stuff for sale. Packing has been all-consuming. Any free moment without the kids is dedicated to packing up our stuff. I finally feel like we’re making good progress. The big spaces we haven’t really started are the nursery and garage. I hope we can tackle both of them this weekend, as well as packing up some of our art/decor.

We started off the weekend with a fun Friday. Lawson was an angel today. Sybil has a cold and he was so loving to her all day. Giving her kisses and rubbing her back. It was seriously the cutest. Today we’re spending a few hours with Jim’s family and tomorrow we’ll resume packing.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

HIGH POINT:

My high point has to be that both Lawson and Sybil slept until 7am or after consistently the entire week!

LOW POINT:

I wrote about it in my Instagram post, but Thursday I wasn’t the mother I want to be. Jim left this week for LA. Single parenting is tough. I truly don’t know how people do it full time and maintain their sanity.

FINDS OF THE WEEK:

Other than the Nordstrom anniversary sale (you can find all my favorites here), I’ve been rotating between two little teether necklaces (one shown in the photo above). I never wore a teething necklace with Lawson. After Sybil kept pulling on and putting my other necklaces in her mouth, I thought maybe it was time to try one. Turns out I love wearing them as much as she loves chewing on them! They are made of silicone and can be cleaned in the dishwasher. How awesome is that?! I can’t stop raving about them.

A New Adventure

Moving to Los Angeles

We’re moving to Los Angeles! Jim was accepted into an MBA program at the University of Southern California. It’s a one year program and starts next month. It all came together pretty quickly at the beginning of our road trip in mid-May. We tried to focus on the trip and not to think about it too much until we got home. Since then we’ve been purging and packing in anticipation of downsizing our living space.

We’ll be in Arizona until the end of July. Then Lawson, Sybil and I are going to stay with my parents in Minnesota for a few weeks before joining Jim in LA in time for Sybil’s first birthday (eek, my baby is almost 1!). We’re not exactly sure where we’re going to live or if I’m going to go back to work. It’s probably the least planned my life has ever been. It’s kind of fun, but it’s also been hard for me at times. I’m a planner and a worrier by nature.

We knew this year would bring different opportunities. Even though I’m excited for a new adventure, I’m surprised how sad I am to leave Phoenix. I’ve lived here for almost 15 years. I’ve gone through most of my biggest moments in Phoenix. Marriage, divorce, meeting Jim, the births of my babies, promotions, starting this blog.

I have a great group of friends in Phoenix with some of the best girlfriends you could ever ask to have in your life. They’ve supported me through all my ups and downs. I will miss them like crazy.

I’m sad to leave Phoenix, but I am excited for the adventure ahead. A new place to explore with Jim, Lawson and Sybil. Cooler weather. The beaches. New restaurants. I’d go anywhere as long as I have those three by my side.

Meanwhile, the next 3 weeks will be busy packing. It’s our first time moving with kids, which is much more challenging. Not only do we have more stuff, trying to pack when they’re awake means at least half gets unpacked before we can tape up the box!

If you have any tips for moving with two kids, please send them my way.

Weekend Roundup

Striped Swing Dress, 4th of July Style, Denim Vest

Every Friday is great, but today is an especially good one. Tomorrow is July 1st, it’s the start of a holiday weekend and Jim and I are kicking it off with an adults only lunch.

We are doing some major purging and selling or donating a ton of stuff (we’ve listed anything we’re selling on Facebook Marketplace – search my name to see all of our items if you’re interested). Our house is a bit of a mess as we’re sorting through things, which drives me a little nuts. I’m selling some clothes and accessories on Facebook Marketplace or Poshmark and sending the rest to thredUp.

Do you have any fun plans for the holiday weekend? We might be the only Phoenicians not escaping the heat. Whatever you’re up to, stay safe, eat lots of good food and make memories with friends & family!

HIGH POINT:

Technically it was last week, but my high point was Lawson’s first movie night on Saturday. We put Sybil to sleep, crawled into bed with Lawson between us and watched Moana. Well at least the first 45 minutes of it. He was so cute and loved the special time with us. It’s a memory I hope to cherish forever.

LOW POINT:

Our A/C stopped working on Monday. At one point it was 86 in our house before it started cooling down. It was not enjoyable. I don’t know how anyone lived here without A/C!

FIND OF THE WEEK:

It’s hard to choose just one so this week I have two for you. First up are these M.Gemi sandals. They look even better on. I wasn’t sure about the natural shade, sometimes it can be too close to the color of my skin but I immediately fell in love with them. Next are these blueberry and chia seed pancakes. I made them for breakfast this week. We all loved them and I love that they are filled with good for you ingredients.
