Today’s edition of wardrobe essentials is focused on the leather jacket. While it’s an investment piece, if you choose wisely it’s one you’ll wear for years. I finally found one last fall after searching for over a year. My requirements were 1) reasonably priced, 2) soft, quality leather and 3) a timeless style. Like many essentials, it can be dressed up or down and is the perfect topper for a variety of styles. How would you wear a leather jacket?
REAL AND FAUX LEATHER JACKETS OPTIONS:
I was going through some old blog posts this weekend and came across my wardrobe essentials series from earlier this year. I’ve missed it (and I hope you have too)! As we head into the fall and winter months, I’ll be focusing on a seasonal item that I believe is essential to a complete wardrobe and showing you three ways to wear it: for a night out, a casual weekend and a day at the office. If you have any items you’d like me to cover, let me know!

The graphic tee might just be my favorite wardrobe essential. It can be worn dressed up for a night out, casual on the weekend or paired with a blazer and pants for the office. It’s versatility is exactly the reason it’s such an important part of your wardrobe. I usually stay away from bright colors, but I absolutely love the neon yellow skirt. Let’s be honest, I’d wear that outfit to the office too!
J. Crew originally had the market on graphic tees and it’s still a great place to find one. A lot of other brands have joined in on the fun. I’ve also found many local, small businesses that have really cute graphic tees (I picked up this j’adore tee from Olive Lane a few weeks ago and can’t wait to wear it). These are some of my current favorites:
Distressed jeans of all types are here to stay. If your wardrobe is built up, consider adding a pair of black distressed jeans to your repertoire. While they might not be essential to your wardrobe, they are a great piece to add, especially at a lower price point.
I must be craving off-white shirts lately. I didn’t realize I had chosen a version of it for each of the three ways to wear distressed jeans until I was putting it together. If off-white isn’t your thing, grey is another great option to pair with black jeans (like this white and grey striped tee).
