fitness, yoga, p90x3, insanity, weight gain

I had been in a bit of a fitness rut this spring (read more here). I just couldn’t get motivated to consistently prioritize working out. Then Jim (my boyfriend, partner, housemate?) started P90X3. I did Insanity last year and really liked that the workouts were no longer than 45 minutes. P90X3 is even less of a time commitment as all workouts are 30 minutes. Just because the workouts are only 30 minutes doesn’t mean they aren’t intense though! After watching him faithfully work out for 30 minutes a day for a few weeks, I decided to join in. It’s been the kick that I needed to get back into a routine. While I don’t do every workout, I am mixing P90X3 with running and yoga to create a schedule that works for me. I even worked out six days last week!

P90X3 is a 3 month program with workouts six days a week combining cardio and strength training. I actually think it’s weighted (pun intended) a bit towards strength training. There are 16 total workouts and they do a great job mixing it up so it doesn’t feel repetitive. My favorites are the upper and lower body strength training. I can feel my body getting toned by the constant burn! If you’re really looking to lose weight quickly, you’d probably need to supplement it with some other cardio or pay close attention to your nutrition and diet. But if you’ve been looking for something to jump start your fitness without a huge time commitment, I highly recommend P90X3!

If you’re interested in a comparison of Insanity and P90X3, let me know. I’m happy to do a post comparing the two of them!
