Happy New Year! Did you do it up big on New Year’s Eve? While I admire those that can pull off a grand night out, it’s not so much my style. I grilled a steak and potatoes dinner (seriously, so good) and had a couple of glasses of wine. Jim and I exchanged gifts after the kids went to bed.

Exchanging gifts on New Year’s Eve has been our tradition since we started dating. It began when we both spent Christmas with our respective families. Neither of us are big on New Year’s Eve parties so exchanging gifts became our own end of year celebration. It’s one of my favorite nights of the year!

Last year I was really sick so our night was cut short. I might have been in bed before the kids. This year Jim was coming down with a cold so we skipped our traditional champagne. It’s in the fridge waiting for another night.

I wore this outfit on Christmas Eve and planned to repeat it on NYE (I added tights for warmth – these are my go to), but the truth is I didn’t shower until 4pm and went straight to putting on pajamas.

I have few skirts I feel comfortable in and this plaid skirt has quickly become a favorite. I have a feeling it will be my go to skirt throughout the winter.
