Weekend Roundup: No. 182

Sezane pop up

Sure, I love Fridays as much as the next person, but since moving to LA Thursday is my favorite day of the week. Lawson, Sybil and I go to a free kids club every Thursday at the Grove. I pack snacks, we sit outside (generally in the sunshine) and watch a performance of music, juggling or magic. It’s often the highlight of my week.

The other best part about the Grove is their pop-up shop. In the past 6 months, they’ve had Outdoor Voices, Lululemon, Lou & Grey, Tiffany. Next is the Sezane pop up, a French brand full of effortless style. They have a store in Paris and opened last year in New York. I am super excited to see their stuff in person!

The cool weather continues in LA. For a Minnesota girl, I’m a real wimp. It’s supposed to rain today and tomorrow. I have a feeling there’s a movie marathon in our future this weekend.

Did you hear about the Hunter and Target collaboration? Lawson and Sybil wear their rain boots every single day. Crossing my fingers I can get them a slightly less expensive pair!

I’ve been trying to read a book before bed each night. I seem to read in spurts. Each time I do, I’m reminded how much I love to read. I’ve finished two books in the last two weeks (more on the last one below). Seven down and 13 more to go until I can cross it off my 101 in 1001 listWhat should I read next?

HIGH POINT:

Making it to day 26 of Whole30! The first few days I honestly thought I might quit. It’s gotten easier in some ways and just as hard as the first days in others. I expected the cravings to go away by now, but that definitely hasn’t happened. I’m working on a couple of Whole30 posts of our experience and the entire 30 day meal plan.

LOW POINT:

There’s nothing like your almost 3 year old saying “mama, don’t yell at me” in the sweetest, softest voice to put you in your place. In my defense, said 3 year old wasn’t listening to me tell him not to touch something in the kitchen, but still.

FIND OF THE WEEK:

Any time I read a book, it’s a good week. I started and finished The Nightingale in four days. I read it every chance I got. It’s about two sisters living in France during World War II and their respective experiences. I cannot stop thinking about it. It came out in 2015 so there’s a good chance you’ve already read it, but if you haven’t, I highly recommend it. And if my word isn’t enough, trust the 35,000+ reviewers on Amazon that gave it 5 stars. :)
