For this month’s B Bar linkup, I’m sharing my list of summer essentials (see other linkups here and here). When I first thought about my essentials for summer, I envisioned denim shorts, tank tops, fedoras and flip flops. The list quickly got out of control! Instead I decided to focus on a perfect summer day for me and that’s a day at the beach. Growing up in Minnesota, my summers were spent outdoors but we didn’t exactly have picturesque beaches at our disposal. Since moving to Arizona, escaping the 100+ temperatures to the beaches of California is one of my favorite summer activities (my personal favorite is Manhattan Beach!)
I purposefully kept to the essentials for this summer list: a colorful beach towel, a classic black bikini, a coverup and sandals in a hue that screams summer, a fun book (I’m reading this one right now, it would be a perfect beach read!), sunglasses and sunscreen to protect me from the rays and a water bottle to keep hydrated. Of course no day at the beach is complete without an ice cream cone in your favorite flavor!

I love the style of the wrap-bikini top. So perfect. I can never find a super affordable style, but maybe this summer!
Summer is just incomplete without ice cream, isn’t it?! I think I eat my weight in ounces of it from June-September! I’ve found so many great new books to add to my summer reading list via the linkup- I’ll be sure to check out The Knockoff!

Love the bikini, cover up and beach towel! Those are definite must haves. I used to work in Manhattan Beach, CA, we used to grab lunch and go down to the beach to eat… it was a nice break from the office. And, beautiful, too!
I am adding so many fun books to my summer reading list because of today’s linkup. This is awesome. And, yes, ice cream is DEFINITELY a summer essential!
I just got a pair of sandals nearly identical to the ones you posted and they’re so versatile in the summer! I moved to DC from Phoenix and I’m definitely not missing the crazy heat!
