Weekend Roundup: No. 210

Leopard Mules

Hi friends! How was your first week of the new year? We started it off with snow on New Year’s Eve. New Year’s Day itself was pretty lazy. Football and naps for most of us (I’m in 3rd place in a college football bowl pool, go Clemson!).

I wonder how many times I’ve featured leopard in a post photo the past 5+ years? I seem to remember quite a few, including a pair of shoes I bought and returned during the 2017 Nordstrom anniversary sale. I’ve regretted it ever since. So I was very excited to finally replace them in my wardrobe.

If you know me well, this probably won’t be surprising. Last year when I wanted to buy a pair of shoes, I put together a shoe inventory. I was curious how many pairs of shoes I owned and when I got them. Not including my running shoes and heaviest winter boots, I own 19 pairs. I bought three pairs in 2018 (M Gemi loafers, Cole Haan mules and Sorel boots), which is the least in the past 5 years.

If you’re thinking about kicking off the new year with Whole30, I have two posts that might be helpful. The first is our Whole30 experience (me, my mom and Jim) and the other is our complete Whole30 meal plan for a family of four (yep, 30 days of breakfast, lunch and dinner including links to recipes). I am excited to do it again soon!

You guys, I got a new bra this week and feel like a different person! It had been on my list to get fitted for months since I hadn’t been after two pregnancies and breastfeeding. I had been wearing a bra that I wore when I was pregnant with Lawson. He’ll be four in April. To say it was stretched out is an understatement. I’m a Natori Feathers loyalist and got the Stormy/Princess color simply because it’s on sale.

Jim and I take turns managing our budget. 2019 is my year and I’m cracking down on unnecessary purchases. We were really good when we lived in LA, but it’s gotten a bit out of control since we moved to Denver. Our excess seems to be in the home category as we’ve worked to furnish a bigger place.

Although I’m not big on goals and resolutions this year, I’m going to try not to mention whatever sickness is currently going around our household as my weekly low point. Looking through last year’s posts, I’d estimate it was my low point 75% of the time. I sounded like a broken record. Sorry about that friends!

HIGH POINT:

On Wednesday I started potty training Sybil! It’s exciting and exhausting at the same time. We follow the Oh Crap method of staying home for 3+ days while she runs around naked. She’s doing great! I keep reminding myself it’s a process and there will be accidents (because they’ve definitely happened).

LOW POINT:

After I was sick in December, my consistent workouts got completely derailed. I’ve let excuses stack up (the holidays, Jim’s work schedule, cold mornings). Now that Jim is back to work with a longer commute, I need to figure out a workout schedule that works for me. I feel better and am a much nicer person to be around when I’m working out regularly.

FIND OF THE WEEK:

Jim gifted me this One Question a Day for You & Me journal. It’s been fun discussing it each night. He joked that he should have read the title before putting it in my stocking!
